Reading:The Brass Serpen (Numbers 21:4~9)
The Israelites had just experienced God’s faithfulness as He gave them victory over the Canaanites. Yet after God had flooded them with His goodness they turned their back on their loving Father and complained against His divine ways. Instead of basking in His love and goodness, the Israelites chose to sin and complain about His provision
As the people of Israel traveled away from Mount Hor, the people became very discouraged. Guess what? The people began complaining against God and Moses again! They complained that Moses had taken them out of Egypt and had brought them to die in the wilderness where there was no bread, no water, and they hated the manna. We have read this before, haven't we? The people sure seemed to complain A LOT!!
Because of the people's complaining, the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people and they bit the people and many people died. Now, the serpents were not made out of fire; the bites the serpents made the people hurt like fire! The people were sorry again and came to Moses and said that they had sinned and had spoken again the LORD and against Moses. They asked Moses to ask the LORD if He would take away the snakes and Moses did.

God told Moses to make a fiery serpent or snake out of brass and to set it up on a tall pole. Whenever anyone who was bitten by a fiery serpent, all they had to do was look up at the brass serpent and they would live. The people continued on wandering in the wilderness.
